Installing Compressed Air Lines

CUSTOM-DESIGNED AND DELIVERED TURNKEY

A well-designed compressed air piping system starts with the right calculations. The required pipe diameter is determined by the length of the network, the operating pressure, and the compressor’s capacity. If the diameter is too small, resistance increases, pressure loss occurs, and available capacity decreases. This leads to malfunctions, less efficient production processes, and higher energy consumption. SK Compressor Service calculates the correct diameters for your piping network—ensuring that pressure remains stable throughout the network and your systems operate at peak performance.

We work exclusively with top-quality materials, pipes, fittings, and valves—always in stock. From aluminum systems for quick installation to stainless steel for hygienic applications and galvanized steel for harsh industrial environments: we recommend the material that best suits your application, pressure class, and budget. Certified according to NEN 1010, NEN-3140, and VCA—for your peace of mind and that of your employees.

WHEN SHOULD YOU HAVE SK COMPRESSOR SERVICE INSTALL COMPRESSED AIR PIPING?

01

New Construction — Complete Compressed Air Piping System Built from Scratch

When constructing a new commercial building or production facility, this is the ideal time to install a future-proof compressed air distribution system. We calculate the piping layout to minimize pressure drop, correctly size the diameters, and professionally install the system along the roof structure or walls. This includes all outlet points, shut-off valves, and couplings—delivered turnkey with pressure testing and documentation. Read our case study on a new construction project featuring 11 halls.

02

Renovation or Replacement of Outdated Piping

Do you have old galvanized steel or cast iron pipes that are corroding, leaking, or creating too much resistance? Outdated piping is one of the biggest sources of energy waste in a compressed air system. We’ll professionally replace your existing piping network with a modern, leak-free system—made of aluminum, stainless steel, or steel, depending on your application. The result: less pressure drop, lower energy costs, and a more reliable piping network. Combine this with our leak detection service for a fully optimized system.

03

Expansion of an Existing Compressed Air Network

New machines, an additional production line, or an extra outlet in the workshop? We’ll expand your existing compressed air piping system quickly and professionally—without interrupting your production whenever possible. We’ll verify that the existing pipe diameters can handle the additional load and make adjustments as needed. Do you also need additional compressor capacity? Check out our compressor sales to find the right system.

Types of Materials

COMPRESSED AIR PIPES IN ALL MATERIALS, ALWAYS TOP QUALITY

We work exclusively with top-quality materials, pipes, fittings, and faucets—all of which we keep in stock as standard. Each material has its own advantages for specific applications and environments. We’ll advise you, free of charge, on which material best suits your situation.

Aluminum

Lightweight · puncture-proof · quick to install Industry · Manufacturing · Automotive · Small and Medium-Sized Businesses

Aluminum is the most commonly used material for modern compressed air piping. It is corrosion-resistant, lightweight, and easy to install without welding. The smooth inner wall ensures minimal resistance and low pressure drop. Modular systems such as AIRpipe, AIRnet, Transair Parker, and Girair are all based on aluminum—they can be expanded quickly and are completely leak-free.

Stainless Steel 304 & Stainless Steel 316

Hygienic · heat-resistant · corrosion-resistant Food industry · pharmaceuticals · laboratory · outdoor installation

Stainless steel pipes are the preferred choice for applications where hygiene or corrosive environments are a concern. Stainless steel 304 for standard applications; stainless steel 316 for extra corrosion resistance in salt-rich or chemical environments. Geberit Mapress and VSH Xpress/Sudopress are press-fit stainless steel systems that are completely leak-free without welding—quick to install and ideal for new construction.

Carbon steel (internally/externally galvanized) & Galvanized steel

Rugged · high-pressure rating · heavy industry Industry · Construction · High Pressure

For harsh industrial environments and higher operating pressures, galvanized or zinc-coated carbon steel provides the necessary durability. It is suitable for higher pressure classes than aluminum and is ideal for locations where piping is exposed to mechanical stress. We fabricate steel piping in accordance with applicable pressure guidelines and safety standards.

Copper

Durable · Proven Reliability · Long Service Life Workshops · Smaller Installations

Copper compressed-air lines have proven to be reliable and have a very long service life. They are suitable for smaller installations and workshops where the system is not frequently modified. We install copper lines using soldering or pressed connections—completely leak-free and in accordance with applicable standards.

Frequently Asked Questions

Direct antwoord
op uw vragen

Can't find your question here? Call us right away. We'll get back to you within 4 hours.

Which plumbing system is best for my situation?

That depends on your application, the required air quality, the environmental conditions, and your budget. For most industrial and professional applications, we recommend aluminum systems such as AIRpipe, Transair Parker, or AIRnet—which are lightweight, leak-proof, and easily expandable. For hygienic applications in the food industry or pharmaceutical sector, we opt for stainless steel systems such as Geberit Mapress or VSH Xpress. We’re happy to provide you with free advice via our contact form.

How is the correct pipe diameter determined?

The diameter is calculated based on the pipe length, the number of outlet points, the operating pressure, and the capacity of your compressor. We perform this calculation as standard prior to installation—to ensure that the pressure drop at the farthest outlet point remains within the specified limits, even when multiple outlet points are in use simultaneously.

Can you install compressed air lines without interrupting production?

In most cases, yes. For expansions or partial renovations, we schedule the work so that the existing system remains operational for as long as possible. In the event of a complete replacement, we use a temporary rental compressor as a stopgap measure if necessary.

What certifications does SK Compressor Service hold for piping installations?

We are certified under NEN 1010 (electrical installations), NEN 3140 (work equipment), and VCA (safety). This means that all work is performed in accordance with applicable safety standards and that you will receive the appropriate documentation upon completion.

How much does it cost to install compressed air lines?
